Social OPAC's

Love those social OPAC's...gone are the days of the boring, hard to navigate OPAC at the public library! The color, diversity, and range is great, and I could see using this as a tool to highlight book selections of the month on our consumer health library website!

Social bookmarking

This might be an effective tool to share information and best practice, but I don't know that researchers that are not techno-savvy will adjust to the sharing of information. Though this would definitely be a great tool for teens and their social networking!

On-line collaboration tools

Sharing documents seems to be a great idea, and would probably work well for those who need to share work across geographical or international lines, since access is simple. For those using library services, it might be helpful to share information and work projects within and across an organization when direct face to face interactions are not possible.

Wikis

I think that wikis would be a great opportunity across libraries that are geographically separated to keep abreast of new policies, updates, personal sharing of information and technological updates.....
Are there specific rules for maintenance of wikis???

Regarding RSS feeds, do these accumulate in perpetuity if you do not access them every day? I could see that this would be an issue, if one did not access them frequently. Does anyone have issues with the amounts of feeds to read each day? If so, how do you handle that? Do you unsubscribe to some of them, place them in folders, or delete all even if all are not read?

Question of the week...should medical librarians work in collaboration with public librarians to provide education for the community on accessing health care resources? If so, how do you think that can be optimized? If not, what do you see as the obstacles to such an effort?

GoLocal sites/MedlinePlus

Just a question for you on the GoLocal sites available on MedlinePlus. How many of you as consumer health librarians were in the developmental process in your state?
And, what other entities or individuals were included? academic librarians? medical librarians? public health officials? students in health related programs?
